FAQ

Mill Valley bartender questions.

How much does it cost to hire a bartender in Mill Valley?

Pricing varies by event size, service duration, and menu complexity. bartendersNow™ charges a transparent 12% platform fee to the host and 12% to the bartender. Every bartender's profile shows their rates, and you see an estimate built for your event before you send a request.

Are bartenders in Mill Valley RBS-certified?

California's Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) rules apply to alcohol servers at ABC-licensed premises, and certification is valid for three years. Private events at unlicensed locations are generally outside that requirement, but your venue or caterer may have its own rules — check with them. RBS is not required to join bartendersNow™. Bartenders upload their own certification details to their profile, and you can filter for it. We do not verify certifications. Bartenders are independently responsible for complying with California law on serving minors and visibly intoxicated guests.

How many bartenders do I need for my Mill Valley event?

There is no single guest-per-bartender ratio — the drink menu moves the answer as much as the headcount does. As planning guidance for 3–4 hours of service: up to 50 guests, 1 bartender; 51–75 guests, 1–2; 76–100 guests, 2; 101–150 guests, 2–3 for beer, wine, and ready-to-drink service, or 2–4 when the menu is cocktail- or mocktail-led; 151–200 guests, 2–5 and 2–6; 201–300 guests, 3–7 and 3–9. The Smart Staffing Calculator recommends a bartender count from your guest count, service hours, beverage menu, and event type. Above 75 guests it recommends at least two.

Do bartenders provide the alcohol for Mill Valley events?

Hosts purchase the alcohol. bartendersNow™ generates a Stock List: an ingredient-level shopping list with package-size optimization. Ingredient quantities carry a safety buffer of up to 10%. Bar equipment, ice service, and disposables are optional add-ons that individual bartenders may offer.
