What hotel bar service is like.
Hotels already have bars and banquet staff, so the reason a host brings in an outside bartender is capacity and fit: a wedding that wants its own person on a signature-cocktail station, a conference with more simultaneous receptions than the in-house team can cover, a hospitality suite running on its own schedule. This page is built for that supplemental role — a bartender who works well inside someone else's operation rather than taking it over.
That means playing by the property's rules. The hotel holds the licence, runs the loading dock, and sets what an outside vendor may and may not do. bartendersNow™ is labor, not liquor: you build the event around the hotel's F&B arrangement, and the Stock List sizes anything you're permitted to supply yourself.
A hotel event is a coordinated one. There is a banquet captain, a loading-dock window, a certificate-of-insurance requirement, and often a rule about corkage or outside alcohol that the in-house F&B contract sets. A bartender who has worked hotels knows to arrive through the dock, check in with the captain, and work the floor plan the venue already drew.
The events themselves split cleanly into two worlds that overlap in a hotel more than anywhere else: the weekend wedding block and the weekday conference. The same ballroom hosts both, so menus swing from a full wedding bar to a sponsor-branded networking pour, and a bartender who works the property is comfortable with either.

Loading dock, COI, and the banquet captain
Hotels run on process: a named certificate of insurance, a booked loading-dock window, and a banquet captain who owns the floor. Sorting those before the day keeps an outside bartender from being turned around at the service entrance.
In-house F&B and corkage rules
The property's food-and-beverage contract sets what an outside vendor may pour and whether any corkage or outside-alcohol fee applies. That is the venue's rule to confirm first; the bartender works whatever arrangement you and the hotel land on.
Conference and wedding overlap
The same ballroom hosts a Saturday wedding and a Tuesday conference reception, and the bar looks different for each. A short weeknight sponsor pour and a five-hour wedding bar are different jobs — build the event for the one you're actually running.
Multiple simultaneous rooms
A conference or a large wedding can run several bars at once — a foyer reception, a ballroom, a hospitality suite upstairs. How many stations, and therefore how many hands, is exactly what the staffing math is meant to pin down.

Is RBS certification required to bartend at a hotel?
A hotel is a licensed premises, so California's RBS rules apply, and hotel banquet offices often ask an outside bartender to show certification. Here is how RBS works and what the platform does and does not check. California's Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) rules apply to alcohol servers at ABC-licensed premises, and certification is valid for three years. Private events at unlicensed locations are generally outside that requirement, but your venue or caterer may have its own rules — check with them. RBS is not required to join bartendersNow™. Bartenders upload their own certification details to their profile, and you can filter for it. We do not verify certifications. Bartenders are independently responsible for complying with California law on serving minors and visibly intoxicated guests.
Can an outside bartender work alongside the hotel's own banquet staff?
Yes — that supplemental role is the common case. The property sets the ground rules (dock access, COI, what an outside vendor may pour), and you invite a bartender who is comfortable working inside a hotel's operation rather than replacing it.
