Brewery bartenders.

Bartenders for the taproom rental, the beer-launch party, and the corporate offsite at a brewery — a beer-forward room that still wants cocktails and wine served right.

Every bartender must pass Government-ID identity verification through Stripe Identity to be paid through bartendersNow™. We do not conduct background checks.

A brewery taproom is a licensed premises, so RBS certification is typically required to serve alcohol there, and the taproom may ask an outside bartender to show it. You can filter for bartenders who list an RBS certification on their profile.

Coverage

What brewery bar service is like.

A brewery makes beer, so hiring a bartender for a brewery event sounds redundant until you look at what these events actually need. A taproom private rental, a can-release party, a team offsite — the beer pours itself from the taps, but the wine, the cocktails, the non-alcoholic options, and the crowd management are exactly what an outside bartender is there for. This page is built for that: someone who complements the taps rather than competes with them.

The brewery holds its own ABC licence and its taproom rules, so an outside bartender works within them. bartendersNow™ provides the labor, not the license or the beer; you build the event around what the taproom allows, and the Stock List sizes the cocktail and non-alcoholic side you bring in alongside the house beer.

Taprooms are built for standing, flowing crowds — concrete floors, communal tables, a garage-door front that opens to a patio. That layout is great for a party and awkward for a formal seated bar, so service tends to be fast, casual, and high-volume: pour, hand off, keep the line moving. A bartender who has worked taprooms plans for the rush rather than a genteel trickle.

The menu is the interesting part. The beer is a given, so the value an outside bartender adds is everything around it — a couple of cocktails that pair with the house styles, a wine option for the beer-averse, and a real non-alcoholic list. The Stock List sizes that supplemental menu; the taps take care of themselves.

On the ground

Planning a brewery event.

The taproom's ABC licence and house rules

The brewery holds the licence and sets what an outside bartender may pour alongside the taps — often wine and cocktails are fine, sometimes with limits. Confirm the taproom's rule first, then build the menu the bartender will actually work.

Fast, high-volume taproom service

A taproom crowd stands and flows, and a launch party arrives in a wave. Service is quick and casual by nature, so plan the bar for throughput — the first-hour rush at a can release is exactly what the staffing math is meant to catch.

Complementing the taps, not competing

The beer is handled; the outside bar is for cocktails, wine, and non-alcoholic options. A tight complementary menu serves a brewery crowd better than a full speakeasy build, and the Stock List sizes whatever mix you choose.

Taproom layout and stations

Concrete floors, communal tables, and a roll-up door to a patio make for an open canvas with few power outlets and no bar sink to spare. Where the outside bar sits, and how it gets ice and water, is worth settling with the taproom while you plan.

FAQ

Brewery bartender questions.

Is RBS certification required to bartend at a brewery taproom?

A taproom is a licensed premises, so California's RBS rules apply and the brewery may ask an outside bartender to show certification. Here is how RBS works and what the platform does and does not check. California's Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) rules apply to alcohol servers at ABC-licensed premises, and certification is valid for three years. Private events at unlicensed locations are generally outside that requirement, but your venue or caterer may have its own rules — check with them. RBS is not required to join bartendersNow™. Bartenders upload their own certification details to their profile, and you can filter for it. We do not verify certifications. Bartenders are independently responsible for complying with California law on serving minors and visibly intoxicated guests.

Why hire a bartender when the brewery already has beer?

Because a brewery event is rarely beer-only. The taps handle the beer; an outside bartender covers the cocktails, the wine, the non-alcoholic options, and the pace of a busy taproom. You build the event around the menu you actually want. Ingredient quantities carry a safety buffer of up to 10%.

Can a bartender serve cocktails and wine alongside the taproom's beer?

That depends on the brewery's licence and house rules — many taprooms allow it, sometimes with limits. Confirm the taproom's policy, then invite a bartender who works that kind of service and the Stock List sizes the supplemental menu.

How many bartenders does a taproom party or launch need?

It depends on the headcount and how fast the crowd arrives — a can release where everyone shows up at once needs more hands in the first hour than a slow-build offsite. Build the event and the Smart Staffing Calculator returns a count. The Smart Staffing Calculator recommends a bartender count from your guest count, service hours, beverage menu, and event type. Above 75 guests it recommends at least two.

Does bartendersNow™ supply the beer or hold the brewery's licence?

No. The brewery holds its own licence and supplies its beer; the platform provides the labor. You arrange the taproom rental with the brewery and build the event for the outside menu you're bringing in.
